culturebydesign:certification

To be certified requires that you demonstrate your understanding of and ability to apply the concepts, approaches and tools that you learned in the Culture By Design Program at an acceptable standard of performance.  During the Certification Program you will work one-on-one with our Chief Culture Scientist, Dr. Nancie Evans, who will provide you with guidance, feedback and coaching through the certification process. This is an intensive process that is only available to a limited number of pre-qualified people at any one time.

There are two levels of certification:

Certified Culture Practitioner - available to people who have completed the Foundations and Culture Change courses

Certified Master Culture Practitioner - available to people who have completed the Foundations, Advanced Diagnostics and Culture Change courses

Certification Program Components

The Certification Program for both levels consists of an exam that tests your conceptual understanding of the Culture By Design concepts (Phase 1) and an assessment of field work in a practice setting (Phase 2).

Phase 1: Culture By Design Exam

Anyone interested in being certified is required to complete this on-line exam and achieve a minimum of a 'B' average (75%) before they can proceed with the field work assessment. The same exam is completed by potential Culture Practitioners and Master Practitioners.

The exam fee is $500. It can be taken as many times as required until a 'B' average is achieved (the full exam fee applies to each retest).

Phase 2: Field Work Assessment

The field work phase of the certification process involves completing one or more culture assignments in organizations. The assignments must include the components required for certification as a Culture Practitioner or Master Practitioner. The specific elements of the field work assessment (i.e., data collection methods) are defined in a field work assessment plan that is developed with the assistance of Dr. Evans upon acceptance into the certification program. The quality of your work is assessed by Dr. Evans and typically consists of a review of the organization engagement plan, a review of deliverables completed during the field work, interview and/or surveys with the host organizations, and a post-engagement critical reflection paper.

During the field work phase, you will receive feedback and coaching to help you to be successful. If it is determined that more work is required to achieve certification standards, a plan will be created to complete the outstanding components.
