The Culture By Design Program for Practitioners is an intensive, hands-on learning experience that provides a deep immersion into culture concepts and change methods. It is targeted at those professionals who must support integrated culture change in an organization such as Human Resources, Change Management, Communications, Organizational Development and Project Office leaders and professionals. It is offered only to groups internal to organizations or to our alliance partners at this time.

 

The program starts with the Culture by Design Foundations workshop which probes three perspectives of culture and how these impact our own approaches plus stakeholder expectations. It focuses on key concepts such as culture fit to strategy, culture patterns and dynamics, culture strengths and how they operate to both support and impede progress, as well as methods for raising awareness of the way culture operates and building conviction about what is important in the culture. This includes:

·         How to use images to open new conversations;

·         How to hold a culture safari;

·         How to use a culture simulation;

·         How to build conviction to culture by design, and;

·         How to set up a culture measurement system.

Participants experience these approaches and then work on an applied learning assignment and learning journal before the second session of the workshop.

The follow-up session focuses on Culture Change and the strategies and tactics which we have developed from research and over a dozen years working with organizations on culture roadmaps. This workshop focuses on how to approach each of three levels of leaders: Top Executives, Mid-Level Executives and Managers in igniting culture change and creating chain reactions of behavior change within their areas of influence. It focuses on practical methods that can be used at any of these levels, such as:

·         How to engage pivotal groups;

·         How to focus on practices;

·         How to use catalysts;

·         How to create network effects;

·         How to develop social motivation;

·         How to build social ability;

·         How to create organizational memory, and;

·         How to remain agile and adaptive.

 

The applied learning assignment continues with coaching sessions at intervals over the next few months. The program concludes with a final working session in which insights and experiences are explored and the lessons learned consolidated into a Culture Change summary.
